The End or Beginning?

Been lazing about for 3 weeks now (yes, even before term ended :S), but at least I'm enjoying it! LOL
Now it's the time to start getting a little *desserts* (read it backwards)

Retirement Plan :P

Dream on ...
I saw this advert in the ucam website, flat for sale in Southern France, how cool is that?!

Such a strategic location and the place looks colorful and cozy, right beside a port too, perfect retirement plan, can go fishing too! (No pun intended, considering I just watched Brokeback Mountain 2 nights ago =P)

Aih, this is coming for someone who hasn't even start working yet, then think of retirement plans already, LOL

*Smacks forehead* Another distraction...

Rude Awakening

Shock of my life on a Tuesday morning...
There I was mulling (or rather dozing off) over a question, and suddenly 'BANG' on my window and I hear water sprays. Turns out that the college decided to clean my window in the MORNING. The cool thing was, they have this enormously long broom gadget thingy, probably 5 meters high to reach the rooms on first and second floor, and the water sprays comes out from the broom head itself! I was thinking they must have a ladder or some sort to reach the high windows of a house, you know the ones where you watch on TV where some guy is cleaning the glass windows of really tall sky scrapers using an elevator. So I half expected someone to appear at the window, but I saw a broom head exerting water instead! LOL
That definitely woke me up...

Grace Lee Project

I received this from someone in Facebook:

Subject: GRACE LEE PROJECT: Film Premiere

Message:

**All persons named Grace Lee can attend the VIP Pre-Screening Reception and Film Screening free of charge. Please bring valid identification.** Film Premiere: THE GRACE LEE PROJECT – “Do you know Grace Lee?”Questioning conventional stereotypes of Asian American women

EVENT DETAILS:Saturday, March 18, 2006@ Barth Hall in the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (4800 Woodward, Detroit, MI)6:30 pm VIP Pre-Screening Reception with Director Grace Lee / Tickets: $358:00 pm Film Screening with Q/A session with Director to follow / Tickets: $10-20 Adults; $5 Students and Youth

FILM SYNOPSIS: When award-winning Korean-American filmmaker Grace Lee was growing up in Missouri, she was the only Grace Lee she knew. But when she later moved to New York and California, everyone she met seemed to know "another Grace Lee." But why did they assume that all Grace Lees were nice, dutiful, piano-playing bookworms? Pursuing the moving target of Asian American female identity, the filmmaker plunges into a clever, highly unscientific investigation into all those Grace Lees who break the mold - from a fiery social activist to a rebel who tried to burn down her high school! With wit and charm, THE GRACE LEE PROJECT puts a hilarious spin on the eternal question "What's in a name?"

DETROIT SCREENING: Filmmaker Grace Lee will be in attendance at a Detroit screening of The Grace Lee Project, on Saturday, March 18, 2006. The film features an interview from Detroit’s very own Grace Lee Boggs, long-time movement activist who will be speaking at the event. Grace Lee Boggs has been involved in the Civil Rights, Black Power, environmental justice, and Asian American movements (www.boggscenter.org). All proceeds from the event will go towards Detroit-based youth organizations, Detroit Summer and the Detroit Asian Youth Project.

Detroit Summer is a multiracial, intergenerational organization fostering youth-led movement to rebuild, redefine, and re-spirit Detroit from the ground up. Co-founded by Jimmy and Grace Lee Boggs, Detroit Summer was launched in the summer of 1992 to involve youth in hands-on projects, including community gardening, public art murals, a community bicycle repair/recycle shop called Back Alley Bikes, intergenerational dialogues and community organizing. www.detroitsummer.org.

Detroit Asian Youth (DAY) Project was established in 2003 to engage Asian American youth in Detroit to develop leadership skills and awareness for social justice. DAY Project works with Hmong and other Asian American young people in the city to explore the youth’s identities, history, culture, and experiences through community projects and other educational forums.

Someone get me a ticket tomorrow to the States???
Sounds like a fun movie don't you think? I wonder what kind of Grace Lee am I?
Haha, I know I'm famous =P

Dim Sum Cravings

Finally I'm reverting back to main food theme, hehe. Had a sudden craving for dim sum thanks to SH who changes his MSN pic DAILY, featuring a different dim sum dish everyday! LoL

Hence I took the opportunity to satisfy my cravings last weekend when I was in London for IC Malaysian Night (it was a good show!). We went to Royal China for dim sum before then and here are some of the pictures of what we ate!

Mini egg tarts

BBQ pork pastry (Char Siew Sou)

The legendary deep fried custard buns!

Chinese cruller's wrapped in cheung fun (rice noodles)

Har Kow (prawn dumplings)

King's of Siew Mai

Wu Kok (Yam Puff's)

Braised chicken feet

Fried prawn dumplings with mayo dip

Loh Mai Kai (glutinous rice with chicken in lotus leaf)

And FINALLY, a heart shaped mango pudding to end it all~ :)

And now I'm a happy bunny despite being broke :D

Spring is here!

Well almost, except the rather chilly weather occasionally. But yeap, the sun is up, bright and shining, liftens up my mood and naturally its a happy happy day, since I finished my horror week of 4 supervision work! :D

Had a massive pancake buffet for lunch too, with last night's extra leftover batter, and my housemates and I basically tried the nicest combination for pancakes that I posted yesterday! First was caramelized banana with maple, then lemon with sugar, then cheese with salmon, then marmarlade (this was very wrong, no choice as we didn't have jam), then back to banana's and syrup again, before going for the ultimate banana nutella combo! So much for new year resolution LOL

Permanently on sugar high, I guess it's time to get down to be productive so that I can enjoy the weekend. :)
